How should I prepare for my treatment?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that enables you to relax, and have a glass of water nearby. For foot reflexology, you'll just need to remove your shoes and socks.
How long does a session last?
Standard sessions are 60 minutes, with 75 and 90-minute options available. Your first appointment will be slightly longer to include consultation time.
Is reflexology suitable during pregnancy?
Yes, after the first trimester. Please let me know if you're pregnant when booking.
How many reflexology sessions will I need or are recommended?
The sessions are personally tailored to you and your needs, so whether you wish to have a single, one-off treatment or a course of treatments we can discuss this during your consultation. Four to six weekly sessions would be recommended initially following which, a review would be completed and a plan going forwards. If you have experienced an improvement to your wellbeing, treatments can move to a fortnightly or monthly for maintenance.
What if I have a nail, skin or foot infection?
Some conditions can be highly infectious so If you have any concerns please advise me during the telephone consultation. We can then decide together if the treatment can go ahead with me covering the affected area, or wearing treatment gloves.
Does reflexology hurt?
You should not experience any pain, but you may feel some discomfort in the reflex areas that are congested or out of balance. This should only last for a short time as I work to rebalance these areas. Providing feedback during treatments is encouraged so if you are concerned about the level of pressure applied (or are ticklish) I can adapt my technique and pressure to ensure your comfort.
Can you diagnose what is wrong with me?
No. As a reflexologist I am not able to diagnose or cure medical conditions. A treatment may identify reflex areas that are congested or out of balance in your body and we will be able to discuss what we find, but if you have questions about a medical condition you are advised to contact your GP.
How will I feel after a treatment?
Everyone is an individual, so every person’s response to reflexology will be different: your body will take what it needs from the treatment. Most clients feel calm and relaxed and often report that they have slept well following a session. I will provide you with some aftercare advice to help maximise the effects of your treatment and suggestions for how you can continue to work on any areas that have arisen during treatment.
